As I often tell you, 100% of every dollar made here and on my Patreon goes directly to Heart of Gold Sanctuary. We currently have 13 horses in, and one is pregnant and I just agreed to take in two abused, wild mares that no other rescues us willing to deal with. They were going to be euthanized just because they aren't useful to humans! To me, this is strange cruelty and arrogance in humans who think that because an animal cannot serve them, is difficult to keep captive or doesn't ad value to their lives, that the animal should be destroyed. I know that these animals each have their own soul, their own desires and fears and joy and loves. Horses have personalities as rich as our own! Just like people who have been abused and get stuck on "survivor" mode, they may at first seem defensive, as they should be in accordance to their experience with humans, they may also seem despondent and "broken" after being beaten into submission and void of personality. Just like people, once these horses come to realize they are in a safe place and that they have some to depend on for care, feed, shelter and protection, their personalities BLOOM! All my horses are hilarious. We set our chairs out in the pasture and watch them over T.V. They play, they battle, they tease, they run and jump for joy, they beg for oats, they mess with everything within their reach, they groom each other, they annoy each other, they form incredibly intricate escape plans that go no further than the hay shed... haha!
