OK I need to address it. The conversation about devotees and taboo is an old one so I’ve avoided it. Opinions are out there, the points made who needs mine? Currently I’m reacting to a reddit conversation and the people there really didn’t like devos. They made the point that often a devo is attracted to the chair and not the person--OK so don’t have sex with them. I’ll use an old anecdote here: So a person likes tits, or he really likes a nice ass. Why is there no stigma about not appreciating the person. If they don’t appreciate the person then they’re not your match.
It's similar with the opinion about those who fetishize “the struggle.” I think the intention is good here and are unfortunately affecting PWD. The people that say that have are just slightly off. It’s odd maybe because it’s not something like tits, but it’s borne out of respect and admiration for those who face it. Maybe the devo in the past had an experience that affected them enough for an appreciation to take hold somewhere. And maybe there are those who don’t care for the person, the same way that other bad dates might date someone for their big tits. Take masturbating to a pornstar you have a particular thing for. Are you pleasing yourself because you respect this woman/man? While you may and should respect them, you know they’re on the internet. They do not know them and will not know them. Everyone knows this is about getting off. There will be no relationship. Does that make attraction to the pornstar wrong? No. It’s just preference. PWDs are a vulnerable community, so naturally our society will be skeptical--we automatically lean to this skepticism to be careful. As a swensitive issue, disability is just not even considered. This is why society doesn't regard PWD as sexual. So in this digital and ever-caring world where good people exist we'll continue down this path but maybe little by little, tweet by tweet, society will see the perspective shift and allow them unstigmatized freedom to personally know an entire demographic. That's why I content create.
