As the afternoon settled in, I reached for my last cork cigarette, only to find an empty pack staring back at me. Pure panic surged through me, the craving tightening it's grip with every passing second. I'm sure I had one left?! Driven by by insatiable desire, I had to buy more immediately, my mind consumed by the single-minded pursuit of relief. I searched for a shop, garage... anywhere that sold cigaretts, my senses heightened by the urgency of my need and With each step, the craving intensified. I couldn't bear the thought of facing another moment without a cigarette, the very idea sending waves of anxiety crashing over me. Finally, after what felt like an eternity of wandering, I stumbled upon a heaven. Relief flooded through me as I stepped inside, greeted by the comforting sight of neatly arranged shelves stocked with cigarettes. "20 Marlobro Reds please" With trembling hands, I grabbed that fresh pack of my cigarette's, a sense of euphoria washing over me as I cradled them close. As I emerged back into the street, a weight lifted from my shoulders, replaced by a sense of calm and contentment, just holding them. I lit up immediately after leaving the shop and closed my eyes as I inhaled deeper than I had ever before. Relief. Euphoria. I can't explain it, the feeling was like nothing before. But even as I indulged in the familiar ritual of lighting up, I couldn't shake the lingering awareness of my addiction, always lurking just beneath the surface, waiting for it's next opportunity to seize control. I really should stop, or try to cut down at least. For now, though, I allowed myself to savor the simple pleasure of satisfying my craving, knowing that in this fleeting moment, everything was as it should be. Until next time, Malory 🖤
